Woman outsmarts stalker with only pen and paper

A calm woman used only a pen and a piece of paper to rescue herself from a stalker.

A watch shop in Mong Kok published a post on Instagram last Thursday (Mar 17) and said a female shopper was being tailed by a man during her visit.

The shopkeeper initially thought the two knew each other, but the woman looked anxious and uncomfortable. Therefore, the shopkeeper approached the woman and asked if she needed any help.

The woman whispered that she needed a pen and a piece of paper. She then wrote a message on the paper calling for help, which roughly translated, “Sorry to bother you, but I am being tailed by the man in a gray shirt!”

The man seemed to realize that his cover was blown and left the store. The woman was later escorted to a safer place by a couple in the store, according to the Instagram post.

The post also drew the police’s attention, and the case was soon taken over by the Mong Kok district crime investigation team.

After investigation, officers arrested a 26-year-old man surnamed Han for loitering in Yau Ma Tei on Friday afternoon. He has been remanded in custody.

It was understood that the man admitted that he followed the woman while roaming the streets because he caught a glimpse of her beauty and excellent body shape.

On another note, the shop called on women to stay alert and actively seek help from others if they ever encountered a similar incident.

Police also warned that loitering is an offense, and offenders can be sentenced to two-year imprisonment upon conviction.
