UN Women China official highlights women's role in peace processes

"We have data that indicates that women's engagement, women's leadership, and participation in peace processes are likely to have a better peace outcome in a conflict and crisis setting," said Smriti Aryal, country representative for UN Women China.

However, she acknowledged that "less than 13 percent of peace negotiators are women around the world, and seven out of 10 peace processes in the world since the Cold War do not have women as signatories."
