Meta Issues Statement on Child Sex Abuse Networks on Instagram

Meta, a platform for teen communication, has issued a statement in response to a report by the Wall Street Journal that claims Instagram is being used by child sex abuse networks.

The report states that some Instagram accounts allow users to search for child-sex abuse hashtags and engage in illicit activities, including commissioning specific acts and arranging meet-ups.

Meta emphasized that it has detailed policies against child nudity, abuse, and exploitation and removes content that sexualizes minors or contains inappropriate comments or captions about children.

The company also focuses on keeping teens safe by preventing unwanted contact between teens and adults and developing technology to detect and remove child exploitative content.
