Former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern Honored with Dame Grand Companion Award

Jacinda Ardern, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, has been named a Dame Grand Companion, the second highest honor in the country, for her service during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Christchurch mosque attacks.

Ardern accepted the honor, but expressed her conflict about doing so, as she believed her role was a collective effort for the nation.

Chris Hipkins, the current Prime Minister of New Zealand, praised Ardern for her leadership during some of the country's greatest challenges.

Ardern resigned as Prime Minister in January 2022, stating that she had no more energy left to lead the country.
